Quinton Mixed emotions

The Quinton rally saw the crew have a day of ups and downs. The day started of bad with the car not running properly with the engine seeming to have lost 30 bhp, and within 2 stages they were down by 25 seconds. The crew tried in vain to solve the problem to no avail, with a constant worry of doing some major damage the crew carried on, not pushing the engine to much.

Stage 5 saw th crew spirits lift when they came across their main championship rival parked up with only three wheels on the car, but at the end of the stage while on a road section the engine started to misfire and smoke badly. Fortunately they were on their way to service. Again the crew worked hard to solve the problem changing the plugs, coil and filters and the car seemed to be ok.

With only 2 stages to go they set off and the car was running well on stage 6 but they were being careful not revving the engine above 8000rpm. While sitting on the start line for the final stage the car started to misfire again, they managed to get the car to the end of the stage losing 40 seconds but managed to get 2nd in class and 30th overall.

The crew only need to have 1 more good result to take the BTRDA 1400cc Title.

It looks like there was a fault with the fuel injector that caused all the problems and not a head gasket failure as was stated in Motorsport News.
